FTA Section 5311 Rural Area Grant Program Pre-applications

The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency (SRTA) will consider Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5311 grants to enhance public transportation in rural areas (map available at link below). The 2016 estimated apportionment is $317,786, and the funding is paid out on a reimbursement basis to successful applicants. Local public agencies, tribal governments, and private nonprofit organizations that provide public transit are eligible to apply for the following types of projects: 1. Operating assistance 2. Vehicle purchase 3. Bus related equipment purchase 4. Transit facilities 5. Preventative maintenance 6. Planning and technical assistance 7. Bicycle facilities and education programs SRTA invites pre-applications to be submitted by March 8, 2016. SRTA will work with the organizations that submit pre-applications to determine eligibility, funding levels and funding requirements. Contact SRTA early with any questions.
