The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency (SRTA) is seeking a qualified consultant to assist SRTA staff in the development of the Shasta Regional Freight Plan. The plan needs to include regional goals, objectives, and policies aligning with those outlined in the CA Freight Mobility Plan, the California Sustainable Freight Action Plan, the Regional Transportation Plan, as well as with current, and pending, state and federal freight legislation. Assembly Bill (AB) 98 and AB 735, specifically, are bills that will impact the identification of regional freight corridors and influence the broader Shasta Regional Freight Plan. Freight goals, objectives, and policies must be sensitive to local neighborhoods, air quality, and industries important to the regional economy, including but not limited to health care and manufacturing.
The regional freight plan will guide region-specific approaches to freight mobility, accessibility, and safety and bring the region into conformance with state and federal legislation and priorities, enabling the region and its local partners to compete well for discretionary freight funding. Improved access to funding for freight projects is critical for the Shasta Region, because of its strategic location at the crossroads of highways in all directions, the railroad, an interstate, and a regional airport. The region seeks a safe, dynamic, multimodal approach, sensitive to residential neighborhoods, which positions the region well for funding opportunities and, ultimately, improves the flow of goods.
