Currently one commercial airport and two general aviation airports exist within Shasta County. There are a number of private landing strips in the region.
Redding Regional Airport
Redding Regional Airport (airport ID: RDD) is the only commercial airport that provides daily airline passenger service in and out of the region. It is owned and operated by the city of Redding. Flights are provided by United Airlines and Alaska Airlines with flights going to/from two destinations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and soon Denver. Benton Airpark
The Benton Airpark became Redding’s first airport in 1920. It is classified as a “general aviation” airport by the FAA. It’s owned and operated by the city of Redding. The airpark does not have an airport traffic control tower on the facility. No commercial flight services are available. More information is available on the Benton Airpark website.
Fall River Mills Airport
The Fall River Mills Airport is a general aviation airport located approximately one mile north of the town of Fall River Mills and 70 miles northeast of the city of Redding. It was originally built in the 1940’s for the use of training pilots for military action in World War II.
Today the facility has a 5,000 foot runw, nine permanent T-hangers, five portable hangers, and 30 tie-downs. An AWOS II facility is available to help provide up-to-date weather information to pilots.
