Senate Bill (SB) 125 provides regional formula grants to fund capital and operational improvements for California’s intercity, commuter, and urban rail systems, as well as bus and ferry transit systems. SRTA has been allocated $21,534,813 in SB 125 funds for Fiscal Years (FYs) 2023/24 through 2026/27. In coordination with the Redding Area Bus Authority (RABA) and Dignity Health Connected Living (DHCL), SRTA staff identified a list of eligible projects for the initial allocation package that was approved by the SRTA Board of Directors on December 14, 2023.
Monthly and Annual Transit Ridership
The legislative guidelines for SB 125 funding require the Regional Transportation Planning Agency (RTPA) to post monthly and annual transit ridership data for all transit operators receiving SB 125 funds. Ridership numbers are based on observed data. Data from RABA is pulled from the National Transit Database (NTD). Data from Shasta Connect services is not required to be reported to the NTD and is pulled from software tracking provided through VIA.
